He was found in January 2022, starving and desperately ill with leishmaniasis. He recovered from that, but in August 2022 cancer struck, and it was terminal. Bailey bravely fought it for over three years and passed away in November 2025, at an estimated age of 7. His life helped save over 250 dogs and counting. Thanks to treatment for leishmaniasis and tick infection she can now see from one eye — only very little from her right eye (light or darkness), but much better from her left. She is on a strict schedule of eye drops and creams which are rather expensive. Her eye meds only can cost around £80 per month.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eVery fearful and timid to start with, Willow has made some huge steps forward. She is still wary of new people and unfamiliar surroundings, thriving on consistency, routine, and the deep trust she has built in her foster home. Because of her sensitive nature, we feel that moving her at this stage would be detrimental to her well-being and set back her progress. For now, Willow is remaining in her dedicated foster home where she feels safe and secure. His tumours, known as trichoepitheliomas, are benign, but the vet in Italy warned us that they were likely to return. Very sadly, just four months after his last operation, new tumours have reappeared across his chest, abdomen, and groin.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe have, of course, consulted a British vet, who has advised against further surgery. Instead, Karl is now receiving palliative care to manage inflammation and prevent any infections. He is currently on antibiotics and a range of supportive supplements. That's how she came to us...\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eScintilla is positive to leishmaniasis and while she has recovered very well following a course of injections and the disease is under control, it has taken a toll on her mobility. Despite being a young dog, Scintilla moves around like an older one looking very arthritic and she is often falling and dragging hel back legs.
